Democratic Party HQ Raises 'Obama Spangled Banner'

VETERANS CALLED IT “DESECRATION,” DEMANDED IT BE TAKEN DOWN

This story demonstrates just how far the Obama cult of personality has gone. Democratic Party leaders in Lake County, Florida, ran a strange Obama tribute up a flagpoleoutside the party headquarters.

It resulted in a lot of complaints — particularly from veterans. Several veterans reacted by immediately dragging the news media out to make sure they reported on the altered American flag.

Don Van Beck, executive director of the Veterans Memorial at Fountain Park asked that the altered flag be removed, explaining that it was in violation of federal flag code. He offered a POW/MIA flag to fly in its place.

Nancy Hurlburt, the Democratic Party Chair for Lake County, said she would research the issue but didn’t take the Obama flag down immediately, prompting Van Beck to declare that they would take the flag down for her.

“No, you will not. This is private property,” Hurlbert responded.

After a short time spent ‘researching’, Hurlbert relented and took down the flag while the veterans looked on. She did not accept the POW/MIA flag offered as a replacement.

An American flag with President Obama’s image in place of the stars flew over a Florida county’s Democrat headquarters long enough to enrage local veterans who called the altered banner “a disgrace.”

Lake County Democratic Party officials took down the flag, which flew just below a standard Old Glory on the flagpole outside headquarters in Tavares following complaints by local veterans.But merely taking it down wasn’t enough for several local veterans, who said they fought for the flag Betsy Ross made famous, not one with a politician on it.

“It’s absolutely disrespectful,” Jim Bradford, a 71-year-old veteran who participated in the Bay of Pigs Invasion told FoxNews.com. “It’s totally ridiculous. To put somebody’s picture there, to me, it’s a disgrace to do that.”

Apparently there’s more where that flag came from — it was made in China. So you might see it flying on a flagpole near you.

I’m scratching my head for a few reasons. How did they not see that the flag is offensive? And how did they not think that the altered flag was actually against federal code?

Good news is, at least the thing was taken down (eventually) without incident.
