Democrats Continue to Promote Slavery

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

If I was to list the three biggest misconceptions about Republicans today, the list would look something like this:

1)  The Republican Party caters to the rich while the Democratic Party fights for everyone else.
2)  Republicans lack compassion for those in need, at home and abroad, while Democrats are the party of compassion and giving.
3)  Republicans are racist while Democrats have always supported minorities.

The topic I want to take on today is item number 3.  As many Conservatives already know, the Democrats are historically the
party of slavery.  Nearly all measures taken to allow slavery and racism
throughout our history were promoted by Democrats and most laws brought
forth to eliminate slavery were nearly unanimously opposed by
Democrats. If you don’t believe it, check out this recently posted speech given by an African American congressman during Black History Month.  Go ahead, do a fact check.  If you have always believed Democrats were for equality, I guarantee, you will be shocked.  The facts are impossible to argue.  They are historical, documented facts.  They are not interpretations of historical events, like Liberals often attempt to do in order to promote their agenda.

I’m not here to talk about history.  What happened, happened.  I don’t owe anyone a thing for what was done to their ancestors.  The only thing I owe each and every person in this world, whether they are African American, Mexican, Chinese, or a veggie eating, tree hugging, ultra-Liberal, is the respect as someone who was created equal by a loving, Christian God.  Rather than talk about what happened, I want to talk about what is happening.  Not how Democrats were slavery promoting racists, but how they still are pro-slavery.

The Democrat’s and the current administration’s lack of action on illegal immigration is a direct attack on Mexican immigrants and is, as a result, promoting slavery.  The fact the Bush administration was unable to make changes to illegal immigration is not an argument for the current administration’s lack of progress.  Any attempt to change immigration laws by securing our borders while streamlining the process to become a legal citizen would gain Republican support.  President Obama is not working with a House opposed to allowing immigrants into our country.  He is dealing with a House opposed to allowing illegal immigrants into our country while allowing others to remain undocumented.

My own father’s family came to this country for the opportunity it provided them.  I admit to not knowing the exact history of his family as immigrants, but I do know my Grandfather served this country in the Korean War and World War II.  He earned a Purple Heart and was proud to have served his country.  He worked as hard as possible to provide a better life for his family.  My father and his siblings worked in migrant camps along side illegal immigrants.  They were children doing labor most ambitious adults would refuse to do today.  They would be sent away from their parents for the summer to work the fields and bring home money to support the family.  They were paid a fraction of what the current minimum wage was.

By continuing to allow Mexican families to enter and remain in this country undocumented, anyone not working to change immigration laws is promoting slavery.  Mexican illegal immigrants are not owned by a particular person like we traditional think with slavery.  They are owned by the Democratic Party.  They are purposely allowed to continue as illegals so Democrats can continue to take advantage of them for political power.  As a result, Mexicans working in this country are working in conditions no labor union would support and they are doing so for far below minimum wage.  It’s ironic Democrats claim to support two major groups, illegal immigrants and labor unions, when those two groups couldn’t have a bigger difference in their experience in this country.  One fights for ridiculous benefits, unsustainable concessions from their employers, and wages far above their worth, while the other works in deplorable conditions for wages that can not support any quality of life, and is unsure of their rights to public schools, healthcare, and the American dream in general.

I place absolutely none of the blame on the Mexican immigrants.  As long as Democrats are able to convince them Republicans want to simply close the border while continuing to support an overly bureaucratic legal immigration system, they will remain slaves to the Democratic party.  They will continue to illegally come to our country only to live in conditions no where near what they could if they came here legally.  I don’t believe these people are not working better jobs or receiving fair pay because they don’t have abilities.  They are struggling the way they are because they are illegal.  They are enslaved by the system.  By being allowed to come here as illegals and remain illegal, they work in illegal conditions…modern day slavery, supported by the Democratic party.

Just as Democrats have proved to support slavery and racism throughout history, they continue to do so.  It’s quite obvious to me how Democrats continue to exploit African Americans and Mexicans for political power, but it is apparently not so obvious to the average voter.

As the GOP continues to squabble over the nominee, bashing each other over who is more Conservative, we continue to focus on the wrong issues.  Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, and Ron Paul all understand the simple misconceptions listed earlier.  I have always believed a large percentage of the people voting Democrat don’t do so because they believe in their agenda.  They do so because they don’t understand who truly supports their beliefs.  Let’s refocus on helping those around us understand who really does stand for equality, who provides the best opportunity for the poor, whose economic and tax model best supports innovation and growth, and which party really understand and believes that all men are created equal.
