Feminist Theologian Says Jesus May Have Been a Hermaphrodite

The homosexual movement has been doing their best to re-write the Word of God.  They try to claim that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality but that it does tell us to love one another.  In order to do this, they have taken their scissors and cut out the verses where God tells man that homosexuality is an abomination and is punishable by death.

Now they are trying to cut out the references of Jesus being male and claim that he may have been a hermaphrodite.  The Lincoln Theological Institute, which is part of Manchester University, is home to Dr Susannah Cornwall, a professor who is stirring up a considerable amount of theological uproar.

In her recent paper, Intersex & Ontology, A Response to The Church, Women Bishops and Provision, she writes that it is impossible to know for certain whether Jesus was a male or if he may have had both male and female sex organs.

“It is not possible to assert with any degree of certainty that Jesus was male as we now define maleness. There is no way of knowing for sure that Jesus did not have one of the intersex conditions.”

On her blog she points out that,

“About 1 in every 2,500 people is born with an intersex condition which means that their body varies from the typical male or female pattern. It’s therefore possible that Jesus – in common with many other people whose sex is never called in question – had a hidden or ‘invisible’ intersex condition.”

An additional argument used by this feminist professor is that since it appears that Jesus never had any children of his own that this could further question of his functional gender.

Even though England is rife with liberal theologians, many among the ranks have been responding to Cornwall’s paper.  They point out that Cornwall has to be disregarding Scripture in order to push her own perverted agenda.

In reading her claims and statements, I can tell you that she completely ignores Scripture.  New Testament Greek has a number of gender specific and gender neutral terms that could have been used in referring to Jesus, but it was also the Greek masculine forms that were used.

In Colossians 2:11 it refers to the circumcision of Christ.  If Jesus was anything but a male, what did they circumcise?  There is nothing in all of Scripture that refers to the circumcision of females or eunuchs.

Cornwall never addresses biblical issues such as Jesus being referred to as the Son of God or Son of Man.  She also ignores the following verses:

“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”  Isaiah 7:14

“She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus… When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.”  Matthew 1:21, 24-25

“And the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.  And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.  He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.’” Luke 1:30-33

There are literally hundreds of verses that refer to Jesus as he, him, his, and son, but obviously my two years of seminary training are no match for this learned scholar in Manchester.  I would also like to ask her if Jesus was not a male, what made Herod kill every male child two years old and younger in his attempt to destroy the prophesied King of the Jews?

Cornwall has absolutely no biblical evidence to support her claims.  Her actions can only be seen as a blasphemous attempt to emasculate the very one that we all put our faith in for all of eternity.  Her allegations of Jesus not being a male reek of the stench of a purely feminist agenda that wants to raise themselves up above men at all cost.  And that cost may be more than she intends to pay.  For if she has not put her faith in the Son of God for salvation, then her faith has been placed in nothing and the consequences of that are eternal sorrow, regret and torment.
