It's Time To Get Off Your Ass And Stop Being An Armchair Quarterback

I have had the honor of knowing several combat veterans and few of them are willing to talk about their experiences. When I ask as to the reason why I always get a similar answer…

“You weren’t there, you won’t understand.”

See, I have come to learn that there are some things in life that require a person to actually physically participate in order for them to fully understand it. Words sometimes are just not enough… and while it’s nothing like combat (normally), political activism is one of those ‘things’.

I have been a political activist and blogger for almost 4 years. It became in every way my life. I ate, slept, thought and even dreamed politics the whole time. The experiences and knowledge I have accumulated in the process have been invaluable in shaping my understanding of what really goes on ‘behind the curtain’ in the political world. I could talk for hours about what I have done and seen but unfortunately until you experience it, you probably wouldn’t believe it and sadly most people don’t. So in the spirit of actually attempting to restore Liberty to this country I have come up with a solution…

It’s time to get up off your ass and stop being an armchair quarterback.

1. I hate to be the one to break it too you.. but watching every episode of Glenn Beck or reading every book on his list or using the news or blogs like mine in order to ‘educate’ yourself or sharing stories on Facebook or just participating in caucuses or paying attention to politics around election time isn’t enough. You have to get a video camera (most have it on their phones) find a politician and ask them intelligent, educated questions that matter. (When ever a politician leaves the capital building there should be at least 50 people around them asking questions with a video camera in hand.) Video cameras make politicians sweat faster than a hot sauna. Political careers have been destroyed by a normal everyday citizen asking questions on a camera and every politician should be held accountable for their actions and beliefs. Until all of us get in their faces with cameras (nicely of course).. nothing will change because politicians won’t truly feel the pressure of being held accountable.

This is what being “I’m Breitbart” really means…

2.Then after you do that, you have to upload it and share it with everyone you know. (If you don’t know how Google it.. instructions are out there for almost anything. Heck you can find ‘how to give birth’ online, I think you can find out how to upload and edit a video as well.)

But even then that isn’t enough…

3. In order to ask those intelligent, educated questions you have to do alot of reading and research online, but make sure it’s accurate information, not just something someone posted on Facebook. Accuracy is the lifeblood of true, honest political activism. It’s easy to be a mouth piece of propaganda ..it’s harder to be the harbinger of truth.

4. Go to every political event (Town Halls, Rallies, etc) in your area and video tape it. You will never understand how the political system truly works until you see how a political event is ‘produced’. Political events are staged.. because the politician’s motto is ‘Perception is reality…reality has nothing to do with it.’ What you see on TV or You Tube is rarely what really happened, everything is staged (many politicians have more handlers than circus elephants) so that the Internet or TV audience sees exactly what the politician or political group wants them too see .. but until you get off your butt and see it for yourself.. you will never know and won’t believe those who tell you otherwise.

5. Don’t tell me your too old, handicap or busy to do it.. if your Liberty and the Liberty of your children or grand children mean anything to you.. do it. No excuse is big enough for you to not hold your politicians accountable and protect Liberty….nothing.

Besides there may come a time when unfortunate things happen to those few who are doing all of this already, like the untimely death of the great Andrew Breitbart. If there is no one left to replace people like Breitbart.. then who is going to stand up for your Liberty or hold politicians accountable? If your not willing to do it yourself.. don’t expect others to do it for you..while one person can make a difference.. one person isn’t enough to protect your Liberty… It takes an Army of Liberty loving political activists…not a gaggle of arm chair couch potatoes.

Now notice I didn’t mention ‘Volunteering’ for a candidate as something you should do. There is a reason for that…

First you can’t possibly know who you want to elect to office until YOU have done all of the above till your blue in the face. You have to know personally who the candidate is and that can only happen after you have asked them the hard questions face to face and/or have accurately researched the hell out of them. (And don’t tell me you can’t find a way to do it or at least try.) It’s called vetting a candidate… this ‘vetting’ should be done BEFORE you throw your support behind someone not after. Your word is your bond… and if you go out of your way to endorse or work for a candidate and then find out later you were wrong.. people are going to question your recommendations (and sanity) in the future.

Now am I telling you to be a blogger? No… but honestly there shouldn’t be a need for people like me….what I am telling you is that until you become independently politically active and educate your self through constant first hand experience.. you will always be one of the ‘uneducated’ voters. And having ‘uneducated’ voters who think they are educated in how the world of politics really works.. is a large part of what got us into this mess to begin with.

So if you truly want to be ‘Breitbart’ … then it’s time to remove your ass from the chair… and get in the game….now.
