John Boehner is Hypocritically Alarmed by President’s Secret Deal with Russian Leader

Earlier this week, President Barack Obama attended the Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul, Korea.  Also attending the meeting was elected Russian President Dmitri Medvedev.

Obama and Medvedev had the opportunity to talk behind closed doors and so far, the White House has not revealed what the context of the talk was.  As their meeting ended, reporters were allowed into the room and several of them managed record a comment made by President Obama to the Russian leader.  Obama told him he would be more flexible to deal on issues such as nuclear disarmament after the 2012 election.  He also told Medvedev that incoming Russian President Vladimir Putin needed to give him some space.

After Obama returned to the US, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) sent a letter to President Obama expressing his concern about the message he sent Putin and his comments about being able to deal better after the election.  Boehner seemed to also be concerned that Obama had been making secret deals with the current Russian leader without the knowledge and consent of Congress.

I find Boehner’s reactions to be somewhat hypocritical since he has a history of making secret deals with Obama and Democratic Party ever since he became Speaker of the House after the 2010 elections.  Conservative Republicans have been just as concerned about Boehner’s secret deals as Boehner seems to be about Obama’s.

In the 2010 election the voters spoke loud and clear about what they expected from their newly elected House Republicans.  When the freshmen Republicans tried to do what the voters instructed them to do, Boehner would sneak off to the White House and make deals with Obama behind closed doors and then return to the House and undermine the efforts of the new class of Representatives.

Boehner completely disregarded the mandate given by the voters with his secret deals with the Democrats.  Guess the Speaker is worried when someone else lowers themselves to his same deceptive practice.

I don’t want to see a Democrat take Boehner’s House seat, but I’m not sure if one did that we would see any difference in voting record than what we see now.
