Self Inflicted Racism

Plenty of interesting information continues to come out of the Treyvon Martin and George Zimmerman case.  If you haven’t been keeping up with the story, there has been plenty of media bias in the case.  First of all, George Zimmerman has been labeled by the media as a ‘white’ Hispanic.  The original photos of Zimmerman and Martin were both old photos, depicting Zimmerman as an ex-con and Martin as an innocent young boy.  New reports have referred to a ‘mostly’ white neighborhood, which in reality is less than 50% white.  On top of that, it took multiple days for reports to be released of Martin’s suspension from school for marijuana possession and the fact he may have been on top of Zimmerman, punching him at the time shots were fired.

Despite all of the new information rolling in regarding this story and the main stream media’s refusal to share the real facts, I would rather focus on a bigger, underlying issue.  I’ve already stated in a previous article, the fact I don’t see what race has to do with this murder case.  I believed then, and still believe with all the new information, the racist hate crime was completely manufactured by the media.  I see it as a sad story of a young boy shot and killed by another young man.  I feel for both of them and their families.  Trayvon’s family is dealing with an extremely difficult loss and Zimmerman will be dealing with his decision for the rest of his life, whether it be right or wrong.

What really concerns me is the media and the liberal left’s depiction of this entire story and the general public’s willingness to go along with an obviously manufactured race war.  First of all, I have a serious issue with the depiction of Zimmerman as a ‘white’ racist.  I have heard plenty of athletes, actors, performers, and media talking heads spouting off about how this is just the reality of what blacks have to deal with in America today.  Just looking at the pictures, George Zimmerman is clearly not white.  How is it that he doesn’t have to deal with the same prejudices?

Forget the entire Hispanic vs. African American twist on this story.  Why is it, Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton spend the majority of their time defending black families.  What about Asians, Hispanics, and Middle Eastern people?

I may get labeled a racist for what I am going to suggest in this article, but I can live with it.  I know I am not racist.  My God knows I view each and every person as equal and will give anyone an equal opportunity.  Call me what you want, I can take it.

Look above at the photo of Trayvon Martin.  Listen to someone like Kanye West talk for a few minutes.  Ask a citizen of the City of Detroit why they are living in poverty without jobs.  Yes, I’m suggesting what is happening to African Americans in our country today is largely their own fault.  I’m aware of the fact, not all blacks dress like Trayvon in that photograph, and people of other ethnicities do, but many blacks consider it part of their culture.  The same goes for how people like Kanye speak.  This destruction of the English language is not an accent.  Mexicans and Indians have an accent.  People like Kanye West choose to butcher the English language.  And when it comes to employment, leadership, and responsibility, the struggles are mostly self inflicted.  Stop playing the blame game and start working your tail off to make something of yourself.

These points apply to all people.  While I have met and respect African Americans who do not fit any of these categories, I have also met whites, Asians, and Mexicans who do.  I guess that makes me an equal opportunity racist.  If you work hard and are responsible, I will like you not matter what your race, but if you don’t display those qualities, I will discriminate against you despite your race.

I hate to use another James David Manning quote as I did a couple days ago, considering the fact he is quite misguided overall, but he hits it on the head again regarding this subject.  I refuse to put the actual video here because of some of this extreme views and language, but this speech can be found on YouTube.

“you have accepted affirmative action, which says you are not as qualified as someone else…therefore, what is required of the white race is not required of you”

“black men are looking for Obama to give them more irresponsibility and unaccountability”


“you have been in this country for 500 years and you are still marching and complaining you don’t have anything…to let yourself be on the bottom as long as you have been on the bottom, and 2 years from now, Mexicans will be running your life and writing your paycheck.”

The point I am trying to make isn’t too far from what Manning has stated.  Having Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton run to your aid in a case like this, where race appears to have nothing to do with it, will get you nowhere.  We dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese for God sakes, but you don’t see them whining and using it as an excuse.  Japanese and other Asian’s are some of the top students in universities today and are a major part of American business.  People of Middle Eastern decent come here, having a clearly different skin color and often worshiping a highly controversial God, but they are business owners, doctors, and highly respected people.  Mexican’s come here illegally and proceed to work their butts off to support their family.  None of these groups complain as universally as African Americans, nor do they play the race card at every opportunity. 

Yes, racism does exist in our country today, but anytime I have experienced it, being a ‘white’ Mexican, I work my tail off to prove it wrong.  I use it as motivation and don’t bother crying to anyone else.  Perhaps it is because of other ethnic groups willingness to work through prejudices and place the responsibility on themselves, the media isn’t willing to make regular news of their struggles.  George Zimmerman has gotten no attention for the possible racism toward Hispanics, and most importantly, his family hasn’t bothered making news of it.

It’s about time we start asking how often racism is self inflicted.  I fully believe the average, educated American today is not racist and having a different attitude about racism when it is encountered would go a long way in ending it forever.  Crying racism only fuels the fire, while working harder to prove it wrong will kill it for good.

The media and the liberal left have a clear goal of exploiting African Americans for their own political power.  I’m just left wondering, for a political group standing so firmly for equality of all, what about the discrimination toward George Zimmerman, a Hispanic?  Why are murders of Asians and other races not talked about endlessly in the news?  While many African Americans revel in the attention, they have no idea how much damage is being done to their race in the eyes of the public.  Other races have dealt with the issue and moved on, but one continues to leave themselves behind.
