Another source of deriving embryonic stem cells without killing the baby. I heard Dr. Ming Wang speak of this at a meeting on using this source to cure blindness. As he said…God’s way is always best.
British researchers said they had succeeded in reprogramming amniotic fluid cells without having to introduce extra genes.
This suggests the possibility that stem cells derived from donated amniotic fluid could be stored in banks and used for medical therapies and in research, they said, offering a less problematic alternative to embryonic stem cells.

Reminds me of a show I saw about stem cell breakthroughs a few years ago. Michael J Fox (seems like a great guy) was on as the special guest to talk about the recent advances that had been made in stem cell research. He had been suffering from Parkinson’s Disease for years and had been a strong a vocal advocate for using aborted fetal tissues to harvest stem cells for research and therapy.
Michael said something to the effect that the Right Wingers had been apposed to using fetal tissue and how badly mistaken those narrow minded people had been. The expert then said that he knew of Michael’s advocacies but that the gains had been made by manipulating adult cells. He went on to add that fetal cells had proven to be a dead end because they tended to replicate uncontrollably and to cause cancer.
Poor Michael’s face looked as if his best friend had just passed away and the TV show host’s face was full of surprise. Actually the Lefts crusade to use aborted fetuses instead of seeking more ethical solutions had taken invaluable money and resources from the true race for a cure for many illnesses and diseases…but than again, abortion must be protected and encouraged at all costs!
The expert, on seeing the affect on Michael, was quick to make him feel better by giving him props for his efforts.
