I Am An American Above All Else

English: Barack Obama (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

From a very young age, children are taught to love their countries. America is, in my opinion the best place for patriotism like that, because we not only say, but we do here. We protect the weak, feed the hungry, and we are the only country on earth where our poor live in homes, with heat and air conditioning, cable, and a big-screen television.

Real poor people outside the US sleep on dirt floors. In Barack Obama’s ancestral home country of Kenya, the AIDS epidemic has killed so many adults, that many children are left to fend for themselves, without any adult help or supervision. In India the Caste System has “lower class” poor people forced to step off the sidewalk if someone of upper class is walking by. They are regularly beaten if they disobey this unwritten law, and often die due to these beatings. In most of the Third World, the poor starve, from cradle to grave. There is no welfare. There is no Medicaid or Food Stamp program.

Everywhere on earth, except in America, the poor have no chance for much of a life to speak of. Yet, we Americans make sure our poor have housing, electricity, heat, cars, cell phones, cable, and nowadays, and especially here in Chicago, Internet and a free computer. I just got a notice in the mail yesterday from Comcast (Owned by GE-whose CEO is an Obama Adviser) stating that internet was virtually free if your child gets help from the government for his/her lunch at school.

Additional to all these niceties, the poor here get something that is rare elsewhere on earth. They get a voice. They vote, if they want to. Most of them don’t, as is evidenced by the minimal voter turnout here for all elections. The numbers are staggering. But, Mr. Obama changed that in 2008, and had the golden opportunity to involve the less-advantaged FOREVER in the Democratic Process here in the US. In fact, he has shown them that he wanted just their votes, and had no intention of helping them downstream, other than to increase their freebies, damning them to the government feeding trough forever, with no chance of escape.

As I sit at my computer all day long working, I am able to spend a good deal of time staying up on politics and campaigns, the economy and jobs, and of course the markets. Writing isn’t my full-time gig. It is something I do in my small little way, besides working and contributing to society, and of course voting, to do my “fair share” (to steal a phrase from Obama). I see it as a way to impart to others how much I love my country of birth. It is also a way to instill a desire in others as strong as mine, to make change for our country. It is a way to force the hand of voters, through information, to do the right thing. It is not Obama bashing, as I would bash anyone, Republican or Democrat, who was so bent on the destruction of our nation.

The opportunity that I have created for myself and my family, has not been easy. It started when I was ten years old and got my first job. My parents couldn’t, or wouldn’t afford the cost of horseback riding lessons, so I cut a deal with the stable where my friends rode. I would work, mucking stalls and grooming horses, in exchange for riding lessons, as long as I worked there. I learned not only to ride, but to care for horses. I groomed thoroughbreds for the Dupont Family. I was jumping 5 foot gates after about a year of working there. But the best lesson of all, was I could do anything I wanted to do in this country, as long as I was willing to work. And to this day, I live by a simple ideal. If I work for it, I can have it. We live in a nice neighborhood, in a great house, and my kids go to a fantastic school. The property taxes here are high, but that comes with a school system like this. I can afford to put my kids in a great school, because I worked hard to get here.

You see, in America, anything is possible. In fact, if you look at most of the CEO’s of large companies here, you will see that they all came from meager beginnings, and WORKED to become what they are today. They started at the bottom. Bill Gates started his company in a garage, having dropped out of college, and is now one of the richest men on earth. He took a chance. He was willing to risk it all. But when you risk like that, you must be willing to work. At least that’s how it used to be, before politicians started investing our money in companies. It used to be, you worked, and worked and worked, and after you started making money, you would be able to get someone behind you-a private investor or a bank, if you proved the case for your company having legs to stand on. In recent years, Congressmen/women have been giving “pork” to their “constituents,” in essence investing our money in them through the back door of congress. Additionally Barack Obama has been investing our money in companies started by donors to his campaign, to the tune of roughly $18 billion dollars. And when each of those companies have gone out of business and/or filed bankruptcy, he has pressured the bankruptcy judges to allow those donors to pay themselves bonuses, rather than liquidate and pay their creditors-those creditors being you and me.

There was a time, when Americans believed what I believe. There was a time when politicians believed in our Constitution and didn’t give our tax dollars to their friends. There was a time when those risk takers we call entrepreneurs were lauded by politicians as the backbone of our society, as THE job creators in America. There was a time when pride in ownership of ones successes AND failures was what it meant to be a capitalist in America. Those times are in our past. The President and for the most part, all Democrats now Demonize those brave capitalists for making too much money. They demonize them for sending jobs to foreign countries so that they could keep their companies competitive in spite of the world leading high corporate income tax in America. So the left is taxing these business owners and job creators out of business, yet chastise them when they move their businesses to places where they can survive. They attack business people on the conservative side of the aisle, yet they embrace their “supporters” who give them money for their campaigns, who do the very same thing and send jobs where they can make the most money.

It is time we stop and think about what this country was founded on. It is time we stop the Democrats from demonizing Conservatives for being capitalists. The news media want you to think that capitalists are evil. They also want you to think that they and the Democrats aren’t socialists. Yet, they demonize the wealthy. They demonize those of us who want to be wealthy. They demand a large “share” of what we earn, claiming it out of fairness. No matter how you slice the Left in this country, they come up socialist. They say they aren’t, but all of their actions say they are. Mr. Obama says he wants people to start companies and hire people. He says he wants us to take chances with our hard earned money and risk expanding our businesses, and the next day says we are evil if we want to keep our money, if we want to use the tax code to increase our net income. He wants us to do all the work, so that he and those who refuse to work can take a larger chunk of our hard earned money.

It is time we call a spade a spade (and I know I will hear from the left for using that term. Of course I am racist for using it, yet it has nothing to do with skin color) and realize that the subterfuge from the left is just that. It is subterfuge. They are not just socialists, but are outright Marxists. They want everyone to have the same life, even though more than 50% of our citizens pay absolutely nothing in the form of income taxes. They want everyone to have the same houses and cars, and educations, yet they want those of us who work to pay for it all. They would have you and I die, if we get in their way. A close friend of Mr. Obama’s named Bill Ayers published a book when he was a member of the terrorist organization The Weather Underground. The book was a manifesto. It was a Marxist blueprint to convert America to a Marxist society, in which he openly discussed the murder of up to 25 million Americans who he said couldn’t be “reeducated.” Juxtapose that to Saul Alinsky’s teachings, which Mr. Obama follows to the letter, and you will understand where we are going, and how we will get there under Obama. The end to Mr. Alinsky justifies any and all means necessary.

I love my country. Because I live in America, I can sit here in my home office, on my antique oak desk, typing on my multi-thousand dollar computer, and I can do it because of our Constitution, specifically the First Amendment, which guarantees my freedom of expression. Four years ago, when I wrote an article, I knew that George W. Bush would not send some Military Policemen, or NSA “Men In Black” types to get me for speaking out against him. Today, I do it with fear in the back of my mind that Mr. Obama gets tired of reading my work, and sends someone to get me-breaking down my door on a night when it is 40 degrees, my wife and kids are sleeping, and they see me for the last time of their lives, as I am being taken under the NDAA, a federal law which Obama not only signed but vehemently fought to keep, which allows him/the military to detain me, without cause, without due process, for an indefinite period. This is no longer America. This is no longer a free country. The government has infringed on our religious freedoms with Obamacare. They have infringed on our liberty with the Patriot Act, NDAA, and the nature of the illegal searches conducted by TSA. This is not the America that nearly every man in my family has donned a uniform to protect going back to the Revolutionary War.

I want my country back. I want my government restricted by the Constitution, not restrictive by ignoring the Constitution. I am an American above all else. I want to, once again be proud to say that. I want to be proud of my country. I want to be proud of my country lending direction to the world, lending wisdom to the world, and lending a hand to those who are down, not bringing those who are up, down to the ground out of a screwed up sense of fairness. I hope and pray that Mr. Romney wins on November 6, for I know that he too, is an American above all else.
