The Watergate Deaths

English: Richard Nixon boarding Army One upon his departure from the White House after resigning the office of President of the United States following the Watergate Scandal in 1974. 日本語: ホワイトハウスを去るリチャード・ニクソン (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

For those of you who are too young to remember, Watergate was a scandal that brought down a President named Richard Nixon.

Nixon was an ominous presence. He seemed to be a kind man on the surface, but made a career of threatening bankers and their families with harassment, if they refused to give less than good risk borrowers, mortgages. He had a background that no one could put their finger(s) on. He had sealed his college and high school transcripts, and there was no sign of much “work” before he was elected to the White House, other than a stint as a U.S. Senator. Before that, he was a visiting lecturer of law.

Now, during his time as the President of the United States of America, times were tough. The economy went to hell in a Chinese made hand-basket and gas prices were at an all-time high. He engaged in giving money (taxpayer money) to cronies so that they could start “green energy” companies. Of course, had those companies been viable, the private sector would have bought into them, but that is a discussion for another time. Fact is, he gave about $18 billion to these companies, most of which went defunct before he was through with 3 years in the White House. As the economy got worse, he began to make some major mistakes.

The mistakes he made were plentiful. In fact, in what some would consider RICO violations, he gave guns directly to Mexican drug cartels, some of which were used to kill a US Border Patrol Agent, and then his administration covered up the amount of guns they gave to the cartels, and how they did it. In fact, by the middle of his fourth year as President, hundreds of Mexican citizens were killed with those very guns. And, by the last third quarter of his fourth year in office, the American people still didn’t know what the outcome of that cover-up was, because Mr. Nixon had refused under Executive Privilege to answer subpoenas from Congress concerning the gun trafficking, which became known as Operation Fast and Furious. In fact, the Mexican government was able to do a better investigation, even with the Cartels operating openly in Mexico, and eventually found thousands of guns attributable to Fast and Furious.

During the investigation by Congress, the unemployment rate in America went all the way up to nearly 10%. It stayed there for the whole time Mr. Nixon was in office. In fact, the country hit new records throughout his third year in office; the US reached new records for the number of Americans unemployed, on food stamps, other welfare, and dropping out of the workforce all together. It was a sad time for America, because the press had ceased doing their jobs, and were helping Mr. Nixon stay in office, even though the Fast and Furious scandal would have gotten any other President in history impeached on the spot.

On the anniversary of a terrible day in American history, and again on Mr. Nixon’s watch, Islamic Terrorists attacked our embassy outpost in Benghazi Libya. Now, this wasn’t our regular consulate in Tripoli, because Libya was in the middle of a civil war. It was a residential compound, and there was only a small staff of State Department employees there. When the coordinated attack happened, it was after months of the Ambassador to Libya almost begging for beefed up security at the compound. The Ambassador was the very best person in the Department of State to be there because of his history helping the rebels and speaking the native tongue. In fact, there were dozens of cables sent by him and/or his colleagues, to State, and to The White House asking for that security. But alas, Mr. Nixon just let them be sitting ducks. They were of course all killed. Oddly, during the attack, there was a Predator drone circling above, being flown by someone commanded by White House personnel who did nothing to protect the Ambassador or any of his employees. After all of that, on such a sad anniversary for the US, Mr. Nixon and his people covered up what the attack really was. In fact, they laughably claimed the attack was due to an obscure video from the internet, and the anger it caused in the Islamic world, because it badmouthed Muhammad. For over a month afterwards, the White House and their staff/team all kept claiming the attack was due to the video, but the guys at Langley (CIA), NSA, and some other Intel gathering groups in the US Government all said it was a terrorist organization called Al Qaeda. Oddly, the White House stuck to its guns for a long time, as if hiding something. And the American people didn’t know a thing about the truth, until a whistle blower ( the Secretary of State, who really wanted Nixon’s job) released all the cables to Congress, and they finally made it to the hands of the American people. At this point Congress had to act, right?

Needless to say, the two White House scandals outlined above should have been all it took to impeach Nixon. But there’s more-so much more. Going back to the beginning of his term in office, Nixon kept writing Executive Orders that went directly against the Constitution of The United States of America. And one law he signed even made it legal for the US Military to take US Citizens from their homes, without due process, and to hold them indefinitely. Even some Democrats voted yes on the law-no really they did. It was a bad time for America. Trust me, be glad you are here now, and didn’t have to live through it back then. Because during that time, we were also in a war we shouldn’t have been in. The guy before Nixon brought us into it, but Nixon had terrible rules of engagement that he forced on the troops, and the very people we were fighting to protect were killing our men. The big trade from the country was heroin and there were whispers that our CIA and other agencies helped them ship the heroin out of the country. There were rumors that they even used government planes to do it.

Well, after all was said and done, they impeached Nixon. Let’s face it; he was the worst president ever. We had the highest unemployment in our history. Nixon even used drones to murder an American Citizen without a court, without an arrest warrant, without confronting his accusers, and without a legal death warrant from a sitting state or federal judge. Just killed the guy with a missile and took out some of his kids too. This guy was evil to the core, ordered it himself and kept a list of people to kill in his desk drawer. And when CIA or the military found a guy on the list, he personally ordered him executed-again without due process. Starting to see how evil he was? Well let me give you some statistics as to how badly he ruined America:

Highest unemployment in history (almost 10%)

cut 63% of domestic oil drilling permits to keep us dependent on OPEC

60 million people on food stamps (no really)

hundreds of Executive Orders (which he wrote when he couldn’t get a bill passed, he just made the law by edict)

selectively enforced the Defense of Marriage Act-a federal law (just refused to prosecute it)

Fast and Furious-a botched ATF operation that got an American Border Patrol Agent and hundreds of Mexican Citizens killed

The four murdered at the Benghazi, Libya Consulate (oh yeah, almost forgot, he called this a “bump in the road” and was quoted as saying “when four people get killed it isn’t optimal”)

And there’s more. Right when he was about to run for a second term, it came out that he was taking money from foreigners for campaign donations.

Listen, I am sure you get it-Nixon was evil. The guy violated every law on the books in America, so he deserved to be impeached. So, he was.

Oh wait, Nixon was impeached for putting illegal wiretaps on Democrat National Committee headquarters in The Watergate Building in DC. All the other stuff was done by Barack Obama, and he is running for a second term. My bad.
