12/21/2012–The End of Days

Well, there are only a few days left before the end hits us.

I wonder if we will all just float off the planet or will there be one giant nuclear explosion?  Perhaps the sun will explode and after eight minutes or so we will all evaporate.

I got it!

Nearly every culture has a prophecy somewhere in their past about their prophet returning to save them.  Maybe all those prophesies will come true on the 21st and every one of their saviors will return and have one gigantic war.  We can all sit on the sidelines and take bets on who will win.  I know who I am betting on.

Seriously

I found the following information quite interesting and maybe just a little refreshing departure from the political scene.  Naturally, the idea that the world might come to an end on the 21st of December this year would involve politics and war but the article is more about prophecy than our political geniuses occupying their places of power.  You see, the Obama’s, the Assad’s, the Ahmadinejad’s, the Putin’s, and all the rest are simply pawns in the hands of higher powers when it comes to the end of the world.  The local idiots who think they are driving the bus are just that, local idiots who think they are driving the bus.

I see all this a little differently than most religious leaders and definitely different from those who believe Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and other religions.  I see it this way.  Everyone of us are on the same boat. We can walk around on the boat and we can do pretty much what we please while on the boat but we can’t get off the boat.  Even those who claim they have gone to the moon are still attached to the boat; they cannot escape it.

This particular boat is the earth hurling through space at approximately 66,000 miles an hour and none of us steer it and not one of us directs it.  It travels without our direction yet we are stuck on it and we really have no control over it.  Oh yes, we can have our idiotic little fights and we can throw stones at our neighbors because they are black or yellow but those are simply petty little stupid arguments compared to the bigger picture because we are all still on the same boat traveling to where we do not know.

Now for the end of days, which the Mayans claim is just around the corner on the 21st of this month.  The question that comes to mind is very simple.  Are we really coming to the end or are we just going into another calendar year?

I opt for the latter because not one of us can predict the end of the world, not even the Mayans.  No one knows when this will all end.  I can say this–the end will eventually come but most likely not on the 21st of this December.

However, I like all others cannot actually tell anyone the time or day that the end will come but I can say this; there are a number of prophetic utterances pointing to the end of this world in a very short time from now, so I had to look up as many references as I could in order to determine a possible projected time.

Here is what I found.

Most cultures believe in some sort of deity and most cultures have predicted ends to this world.  The Islamist believe in their god, Allah and he is supposed to return sometime in the near future and save the Muslim world from the infidel world.  I am willing to accept that as their belief and if Allah returns to fight the good fight for them, so be it.

The Jews are still waiting for their savior to return and save them from the gentile world and whomever else they think needs removing.  The Jewish God is supposed to return soon, but they do not know when.

The Christian world believes the Jewish God was Joshua and he did indeed make an appearance some 2016 years ago and since the Jews rejected him, he gave his salvation to the Gentiles.  He is also supposed to return very soon.  Most of the Christian world call this savior, Jesus.  I personally like the name Joshua, but I am not a semanticist so it matters not the name.

Here is what I believe.

I believe the God of Israel is the one true God and he did send his son, Joshua here to save the Jews.  I believe the Jews did not recognize Him because he came as a suffering Messiah while they waited for a conqueror.  I believe that salvation came to the Gentiles by way of Jewish rejection.  I further believe that same Joshua will return, but most likely not on the 21st of December, and he will establish His rule on this planet.  I do not believe He is coming to destroy but rather restore that which is His.

The rest of the world can have their silly beliefs if they wish, but I will stick to mine.
