Wayne LaPierre in the NRA press conference a few minutes ago said “now is the time for decisive action” to protect our children as he announced that the NRA will sponsor, fund and design the new “National School Safety Shield” program to put trained, armed security guards in every school in America.
“There is only one thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun in his hand, and that’s a good guy with a gun in his hand”, said LaPierre.
Addressing the assembled press directly he asked “Won’t you even admit that it is possible that if when Adam Lanza started shooting his way into that school, that had he been met by a trained, armed security guard that the lives of those innocent children might have been spared?”
The response of the NRA was exactly what it should have been. Not an inch of retreat but a strong step forward toward protecting our children from madmen.
LaPierre also called out Hollywood and the music industry and video game makers asking the media “Why can my research staff find video game called “kindergarten Killer” yours can’t or you won’t tell the public about it?”
He counted the thousands of murders a child will see in the media before the age of 18. He called out the music industry for inspiring disrespect for the law and he told the world that they are being misled, intentionally, by the press.
“You call a semi-automatic rifle a machine gun. You say that the .223 round is the most powerful round in the world. You say that the AR-15 is the same weapon used by our military. These things are simply not true.”
