Video- Senator Cruz Educates Senator Feinstein On Constitution
By Susan Duclos
An exchange between Republican Senator Ted Cruz and Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein, via video clip, shows Cruz asking Feinstein if she support the same level of infringement upon First Amendment or Fourth Amendment rights as she is proposing to do with her gun bans, on the Second Amendment.
Feinstein’s answer was to express outrage that he would dare “lecture” her on the constitution, but she didn’t answer the question.
The exchange witnessed below shows why Senator Ted Cruz is a politician that should be watched over the course of the next few years.
[WATCH]
“Would she consider it constitutional for Congress to
specify that the First Amendment shall apply only to the following books
and shall not apply to the books that Congress has deemed outside the
protection of the Bill of Rights?” Cruz asked Feinstein.
“Likewise, would she think that the Fourth Amendment’s
protection against searches and seizures, could properly apply only to
the following specified individuals, and not to the individuals that
Congress has deemed outside the protection of the law?”
Pointing her finger and glaring at Cruz, Feinstein shot back.
“One, I’m not a sixth grader,” Feinstein said. “Senator, I’ve been on
this Committee for 20 years. I was a mayor for nine years. I walked in
and I saw people shot with these weapons. (Source)
[Update] The Senate Judiciary Committee passed the gun ban along party lines, 10-8, but the full Senate is expected to “shoot it down.”

I’d agree that Ted Cruz is “a politician that should be watched over the course of the next few years,” probably not for the same reason that the author has in mind.
He may put on an exciting show but, so far, more often than not, he’s wrong and I suspect he’s playing all of us on the Right and the Left because if he’s a constitutional scholar worth his salt, he KNOWS that what he said to Sen. Feinstein is wrong.
The Bill of Rights’ protections are not absolute. The First Amendment to free speech has all sorts of limits (slander, libel, “fire in a crowded theater”). Likewise, the Fourth Amendment protection against search and seizure isn’t absolute. Cruz knows that but won’t let it ruin a good talking point. He’s a publicity hound and a cynic, not the kind of person we need in the Senate.
