This article is going to be rather focused (I hope) on the importance of definitions.  Not all definitions of words are clear & it’s become a global problem.  Such a problem that many aren’t even paying attention to what matters.  In my opinion, what matters is the intentions of people & not the words they use.  That might sound like it contradicts the initial statement of this article but the fact is that BOTH definitions & intentions are crucial to understand the actions of people in the world around you.  Especially in politics.

The main word I’m talking about is Democracy.  Politicians have been using this word in a rather blanket-sweeping fashion throughout the world in order to push their agendas.  More on that in a bit.

First off, Democracy means majority rule (by the people).  It’s a rather simple definition.  You’d think it’s impossible to misconstrue, but the opposite has been the norm.  “Keeping the world safe, for Democracy.”  Yes, keeping the world safe so the majority can force the minority into whatever they want.  Well, when I say it that way it sounds so bad, right?  Yes, because by the very simple definition of the word, one should easily see that it’s not so great.  But still, people try their damnedest to add to it in ways to make it sound like the minority isn’t being tyrannized.  I have yet to hear one iota of information that somehow ends up explaining how the minority isn’t being oppressed by the majority.
