Democrats Vote To Protect Sanctuary Cities And Criminal Immigrant Repeat Offenders

The other day was the one year anniversary of the death of Kate Steinle at the hands of an illegal immigrant who was given sanctuary by the city of San Francisco even though he was a repeat offender. Republicans tried to pass bills that would require mandatory sentences for repeat offenders and penalize cities and counties that provide them sanctuary. Naturally, Democrats put an end to that.
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid complained that jailing illegal immigrants who repeatedly sneak into the U.S. after being deported would end up overcrowding American prisons, and would cost billions of dollars.
“Republicans are legislating Donald Trump’s vision that immigrants and Latinos are criminals and threats to the public,” Mr. Reid said.
He led Democrats in blocking both the sanctuary bill, which fell seven votes shy of the 60 needed to overcome his filibuster, and the mandatory minimum bills, which fell five votes shy. (Read More)
As usual, Democrats protect criminal invaders and their enablers instead of American citizens. This time they used Donald Trump, who at this moment has no power, as their excuse. Despicable.
