Advising Pregnant Women Not to Drink Is Now Sexist

There isn’t much left that isn’t either racist, Islamophobic, homophobic, transphobic, classist, ableist, or sexist:

Advising women not to drink when pregnant is “sexist” and causes “needless anxiety”, senior academics have said.

Heavy drinking during pregnancy can cause fetal alcohol syndrome, which features developmental and learning problems. Light drinking probably has no effect. The level of alcohol consumption that is totally safe has not been determined, and probably won’t be, now that even this topic has been politicized.

Dr Ellie Lee, Director of the Centre of Parenting Culture Studies at the University of Kent, said the “exclusion of women from an ordinary activity on the basis of a precaution” was “sexist”.

No doubt the thought police will issue guidance soon on whether it is permissible to advise men who are pregnant not to drink too much.
