Justin Bieber Concert Venue in Chaos as Police Arrest Machete-Wielding Men

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

It’s like Ariana Grande, all over again.

Police in South Wales arrested two men who were carrying a machete in a threatening manner outside the very venue where pop star Justin Bieber is due to play.

Police tackled the man as fans gathered in the packed streets just 500 yards from the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

Police, as usual, are downplaying any type of Islamic terror tie and say they don’t see evidence the suspects they arrested are tied to terrorism. But they’re not releasing the suspects’ names yet, either.

Here’re some details, from the Express:

“Video has emerged of a man allegedly wielding a machete being tackled by police near the Principality Stadium in Cardiff this afternoon.

Police are seen pinning a man to the ground as a crowd watches on.

Police are seen holding the machete as the man is bundled into the back of a police van.

George Petrov,23, told UniLad: “I was walking and I saw a security guy pull the person from the car. He was holding a machete inside the car. The security guys saw him and stopped him.” …

Officers wearing stab vests handcuff a man as a struggle breaks out and he once again is taken down on the floor.

“South Wales Police said two men have been arrested after an incident in the city centre.

Police said there is no suggestion it is a terrorist incident or linked to the Justin Bieber concert.

South Wales Police said: “South Wales Police were called to a dispute involving motorists on Saunders Road, Cardiff, at approximately 3.05pm.

The Telegraph reported similarly, saying police recovered the foot-long blade during the take-down, which occurred in front of a massive crowd of passersby.

Just a few weeks ago, an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester was struck by a terror bomb attacker, Salman Abedi, leaving 22 dead and more than 100 injured.

Salman Abedi
Salman Abedi, the Manchester terror attacker.

Abedi, 22, was a Sunni Muslim who’d traveled to Libya on a few prior occasions. His family was of Libyan descent.

Still, police are pretty clear this Bieber incident isn’t tied to terror. At the same time, who carries machetes?

And why weren’t the suspects’ names immediately released so some idea of their heritage can be gleaned?

Also from the Telegraph, about the Bieber-tied incident:

A manager at the [nearby] Viva Brazil bar and restaurant, who didn’t want to be named, said: “There was a big police presence outside but it was all over very quickly.

“Thankfully no one was hurt. I wouldn’t like to say anymore because it’s obviously an ongoing police matter.”

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said two men were arrested following a “motoring dispute”.

She said: “South Wales Police were called to a dispute involving motorists on Saunders Road, Cardiff, at approximately 3.05pm. Two men, aged 19 and 27, were arrested nearby on Penarth Road.

The 27-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of affray and the 19-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of using threatening behaviour. Both are currently in custody at Cardiff Bay Police Station.

“There are no reports of any injuries.”
