Why Farmer’s Markets Must Be Banned and Mandatory

Society is willing to pour vast sums of wealth into universities via stratospheric tuition and heavy taxpayer support because academics can tell us things that we might not be able to figure out for ourselves, thus preventing us from falling into thoughtcrime. An example is farmer’s markets, which without the guidance of professors we may not have known are racist:

Pascale Joassart-Marcelli and Fernando J Bosco, two geography professors at [San Diego State University], criticized the “whiteness of farmers’ markets” in a chapter for Just Green Enough, a new anthology published by Routledge in December.

Farmer’s markets are “exclusionary,” allegedly because the food is too expensive, but more likely because ghetto residents prefer to acquire their food at higher cost from fast food restaurants and the snacks aisle at convenience stores — so-called because of the convenience of being able to buy crack from the lowlifes who hang out in front of them.

This social exclusion is reinforced by the “whiteness of farmers’ markets” and the “white habitus” that they can reinforce, the professors elaborate, describing farmers’ markets as “white spaces where the food consumption habits of white people are normalized.”

We certainly don’t want anything associated with America’s core population to be “normalized.” Legislation to ban these racist markets is urgently required, especially since they might draw white people into the neighborhood, raising property values and thereby “displacing low-income residents and people of color.”

This is a paradoxical outcome, since farmers’ markets are often established in the interest of fighting so-called “food deserts” in lower-income and minority communities.

A food desert is what you get when the only food available in a ghetto is the stuff people who live in ghettos eat. The alternative would be for the “food consumption habits of white people” to be normalized, which would be racist.

But liberals still like to bleat about food deserts as evidence that favored minorities are oppressed. If only there were a way to ban farmer’s markets and make them mandatory at the same time…

On a tip from J.

They want it banned because the money does not pass through the hands of the filthy rich. They want all milk pasteurized to get every last gallon in the system for control. It’s all about money and control.

The “whiteness” of farmers is due to the fact that farming actually requires such trivial elements as learning, labor, ambition, and effort.
