Brooklyn Museum Sparks Outrage by Hiring Caucasian

Liberals will be relieved to hear that there is concrete evidence of America’s racistness. The Brooklyn Museum has “sparked outrage” by hiring a Caucasian to curate its African art collection:

[Last] Monday the museum appointed Kristen Windmuller-Luna, 31, who has a Ph.D. in African art history from Princeton University, lectures in Columbia University’s department of art history and archaeology, and once worked as an educator for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where she was “responsible for adult and college gallery tours in the African galleries.”

That is to say, she has no qualification other than being female, which is not highly pertinent when it comes to African art collections.

Failing to reject her due to her race constitutes racism. The angry barking of moonbats has forced the museum to mewl piteously about its “commitment to equity” in an attempt at damage control.

Following days of criticism on social media, the museum tweeted Thursday: “We have been listening closely to the debate about our recent appointments to our curatorial team. We’re listening and we hear you. As we think about ways to engage in this conversation with the care it deserves, we want to assure you that you can count on us, as ever, to continue working deeply on equity within our institution and beyond.”

African-Americans make up just 4 percent of all “curators, conservators, educators and leadership,” according to a Mellon Foundation demographic study in 2015. The same report said that people of color occupied 42 percent of “intellectual leadership” positions at the Brooklyn Museum.

No doubt they looked hard, but there was not much chance of finding a person of politically preferred pigmentation with the requisite knowledge to perform Ms. Windmuller-Luna’s new job competently. However, merit is a racist construct anyway (see here, here, here, here, and here).

To spare the museum the cost of hiring a diversity consultant, I will provide free advice on how to restore its indispensable reputation for political correctness. Those running the museum should fire Ms. Windmuller-Luna at once and hire the next swarthy derelict they find defecating behind the dumpster around back of the building. The extra P.C. bonus points awarded for hiring a homeless person will expunge the thought crime of having considered Ms. W.-L. in the first place.
