Jim Carrey Denounces NFL for Not Being Moonbatty Enough

Because the media treats screwballs from the entertainment world like oracles and prophets, we are forced to acknowledge their opinions, if only to ridicule them. Canadian comedian Jim Carrey has proclaimed that the NFL’s compromise allowing players to refuse to stand for the national anthem so long as they don’t do it out on the field does not meet with his approval:

This seems to mean he wants us to boycott NFL advertisers because the put-upon players who make $millions upon $millions to play a game for a few months a year are oppressed by being asked to refrain from open displays of disrespect for America while the national anthem is played.

Trump may have enraged the professional clown with this remark:

“I don’t think people should be staying in the locker rooms, but still I think it’s good. You have to stand proudly for the national anthem. You shouldn’t be playing, you shouldn’t be there. Maybe they shouldn’t be in the country.”

Some players are on the same page as Carrey:

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin called Trump an “idiot” for his comments, while Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall called the president’s remarks “disgusting.”

At least they have the excuse of the repeated head trauma associated with playing football.

Even if the NFL were to get serious and demand players get out on the field and show a modicum of respect for the country that made them millionaires, it would be too late to get the toothpaste back in the tube. Unless you have money on a game, to make it interesting enough to watch, you have to maintain the illusion that it matters who wins. This is accomplished by identifying with the players on the team you root for. How can you identify with overpaid nitwit Neanderthals once you know that many of them hate your country and — if you are Caucasian — would also hate you?
