Minneapolis Stops Targeting Small Time Marijuana Dealers Because Most of Them Are Black

According to liberal ideology, every other interest must be subordinated to imposing racial equity. Among the very few people this benefits are criminals. For example, Minneapolis just stopped targeting small time marijuana dealers because almost all of them are black.

They are even dismissing charges against 47 drug dealers who have already been caught, 46 of whom are black. You might call it black privilege.

The extraordinary turnaround came after Hennepin County’s chief public defender contacted Mayor Jacob Frey to complain about what looked like blatant racial profiling. Frey then directed Chief [of Police] Medaria Arradondo to stop the stings.

Chief Arradondo is unsurprisingly a person of politically preferred pigmentation. By some remarkable coincidence, the most qualified person for this position often is, even when blacks make up a small percentage of the local population, as in Minneapolis (still only 18% despite the massive importation of Somalis, which is low by urban standards). Phoenix (6.8% black) and Portland (6.3% black) are other comically obvious examples.

Note that if blacks are more likely than others to commit a crime, then it is “racial profiling” to arrest people who commit that crime, according to political correctness.

Barks Frey:

“The fact that racial disparities are so common nationwide in the enforcement of marijuana laws is one of the reasons I support full legalization.”

According to liberals, nothing could be worse than a racist. Yet arguably the most salient characteristic of their corrosive ideology is an obsession with providing racial favoritism to blacks.

As Jason Riley notes,

Today blacks are about 13 percent of the population and continue to be responsible for an inordinate amount of crime. Between 1976 and 2005 blacks com­mitted more than half of all murders in the United States. The black arrest rate for most offenses — including robbery, aggravated assault and property crimes — is still typically two to three times their representation in the population.

Blacks as a group are also overrepresented among persons arrested for so-called white-collar crimes such as counterfeiting, fraud and embezzlement. And blaming this decades-long, well-documented trend on racist cops, prosecutors, judges, sentencing guidelines and drug laws doesn’t cut it as a plausible explanation.

This could easily be discounted with shrill screams of RACISM!!!, except that Riley is black, so liberal dogma dictates that he cannot be a racist.

Applying this knowledge with Frey’s frayed logic, all crimes should be legalized, lest there be an imbalance. As if unreachably insane, a racially pandering Rand Paul has actually made that suggestion.
