Democrats Exploit #MeToo Hysteria to Stall Kavanaugh Confirmation

As you probably know, a Democrat college professor named Christine Blasey Ford now claims that Brett Kavanaugh pawed her 36 years ago when both were teenagers, although she can’t remember exactly when or where. The credibility of her allegation registers near zero. Yet thanks in part to Jeff Flake, who characteristically lent Democrats an assist, this absurd ploy has successfully stalled Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation.

Now anyone in politics can be hamstrung at any time. All you need is one kook to make a vague, unsubstantiated, highly improbable accusation and everything comes to a stop.

The feminist Jacobins at the Washington Post are delighted by the political weaponization of #MeToo mania.

The Wall Street Journal is less enthusiastic about the confirmation being stalled while this woman is given a national stage from which to smear Kavanaugh:

Democrats will use Monday’s hearing as a political spectacle to coax Mr. Kavanaugh into looking defensive or angry, and to portray Republicans as anti-women. Odds are it will be a circus.

It is already a circus. Consider Ford’s lawyer, Debra Katz,

who has a history of Democratic activism and spoke in public defense of Bill Clinton against the accusations by Paula Jones.

Ringmaster of this circus act is the odious Dianne Feinstein:

The ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee knew about Ms. Ford’s accusations in late July or early August yet kept quiet. If she took it seriously, she had multiple opportunities to ask Judge Kavanaugh or have committee staff interview the principals. But in that event the details would have been vetted and Senators would have had time to assess their credibility.

It is a transparent political stunt, lacking any subtlety. We are past subtlety now.

[Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s] obvious political goal is to delay the confirmation vote past the election, fan the #MeToo political furies until then, and hope that at least two GOP Senators wilt under political pressure.

Our system of government has served us well for over 2 centuries. Do we really want to give it up in favor of the shrieking hysterics of the #MeToo reign of terror? Schumer won’t like it if Republicans start employing the same slimy tactics so that neither party can appoint Supreme Court justices.

It was tragic the way Democrats led by Joe Biden degraded the Clarence Thomas hearings with the phony Anita Hill allegations. The one thing Karl Marx had right is that history repeats itself, first as tragedy, then as farce.
