Despicable Democrat Tactics to Strong-Arm Susan Collins

What do you get when you cross bribery with extortion? Something like Democrats’ latest stratagem to block the Brett Kavanaugh nomination by leaning on Susan Collins:

A crowdfunding website is trying to strong-arm Senator Susan Collins, the Republican from Maine, by giving more than $1 million to her 2020 opponent—unless she opposes Judge Kavanaugh. Donors are asked to make a financial pledge and then enter their credit-card information. As of Tuesday afternoon, 37,425 people had put down $1,041,878.

Credit cards will be charged only if Collins votes responsibly to confirm Kavanaugh, an uncontroversial nominee who everyone agrees is highly qualified.

“I have had three attorneys tell me that they think it is a clear violation of the federal law on bribery,” Ms. Collins says. “Actually, two told me that; one told me it’s extortion.”

The Democrats pledging money to this fund, presumably mainly from outside her state, are unlikely to care, so long as their end is achieved: blocking any nominee, no matter how fit, who is appointed by a Republican. To hell with fair play, and to hell with the voters who elected Trump in large part because they wanted him and not Hillary Clinton making these appointments.

Another pressure tactic, one Ms. Collins says she finds “incredibly offensive,” is “the out-of-state voicemails being left on the answering machines of my state offices.” Many of the messages are profane. “In one case—and we are going to turn this over to the police, but unfortunately, of course, the person didn’t leave a name or number—but they actually threatened to rape one of my young female staffers.”

The next step after this sort of intimidation is setting fire to offices, followed by personal violence.

Moonbats have also mailed her office about 3,000 coat hangers. Aborting children is at the core of what Democrats hold most sacred, so attempts have been made to whip up hysteria by pretending that allowing another Republican on the court would mean they would have to kill their offspring themselves with coat hangers.

Collins says she will cast her vote “based on his qualifications, his character and integrity, judicial temperament, his record, and his respect for the rule of law and fidelity to the Constitution.” This is the last thing Democrats want to hear. They want her to vote based on fear of what will happen to her.
