Democrats: The Party of the Rich

They used to call the GOP the Party of the Rich, because it generally favors letting people keep their money. Posturing to this effect is still prevalent. The ballyhooed Future of the Democratic Party Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez even pretends that she cannot afford housing in Washington. Tax relief is invariably denounced by Democrats with Marxist demagoguery about “tax cuts for the rich.” However, beneath the phony rhetoric, the party of George Soros, Tom Steyer, et al. is increasingly the real Party of the Rich. The month’s midterms made it obvious:

Before the 2018 midterms, the richest 15 percent of districts was fairly evenly split between Democrats (38) and Republicans (28), but no more. Sixteen of the thirty-seven seats (so far) flipped by the Democrats are in this strata. In the new 116th Congress, these wealthiest sixty-six districts will be represented by fifty-four Democrats and just ten Republicans (with two races yet to be decided). Starting January 3, 2019, twenty (twenty-one if Katie Porter’s lead in CA-45 holds) of the twenty-two richest districts will be represented by Democrats. This year the richest House districts in eleven (and possibly twelve) different states flipped from Republican to Democrat (CO-6, GA-6, IL-6, IA-3, KS-3, MI-11, MN-3, NJ-7, PA-5, SC-1, VA-10; UT-4 is still not called). Going further, in five states (six if Carolyn Bourdeaux wins GA-7) the top two richest districts flipped. These sixteen districts plus five others from the wealthiest 15 percent that weren’t tops in their states contributed well over half the Democrats’ new seats. Without them the House would never have turned blue.

The media tells us Republicans are losing suburbia. Actually, they are losing the rich, as crony capitalism and cultural degeneracy bring the Democratic Party ever more in line with their interests.

Not content to be represented by Democrats in their own districts, rich leftists try to buy elections in other states. This was especially obvious with the absurd yet alarming candidacy of Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke, who ran for Senate in Texas from a financial base in Hollywood.

The Democrat Party is an alliance of the extravagantly wealthy and the intergenerationally welfare-dependent. It attacks the middle class from either side in a pincer movement. Where Democrats have prevailed, the middle class shrinks away, as in California, where only the rich and the poor can afford to live.
