Migrant Caravans Are the Tip of an Iceberg

“What’s the big deal?” scoff Cultural Marxists who want the invasion to succeed. “The migrant caravans are just a few thousand people, trying to better their lives by becoming Americans.”

Actually, the current caravans are merely the tip of an iceberg that has already begun to tear a hole in the hull. Given the numbers involved, there is little chance of them becoming Americans. More likely, we will become Third Worlders. If we don’t back off from the iceberg, the hole will be torn ever larger, until enough of the Third World pours through it that America sinks to the bottom of a sea of need.

The leftists set to take charge in Mexico confirm it:

“The caravans are not the problem,” said Tonatiuh Guillén López, who will take over as head of Mexico’s National Migration Institute, known as INAMI, when the new administration takes office on Dec. 1. “The issue is the movements we do not see, those who are not in the caravan, that is the big issue.”

How big an issue? Let’s ask migration scholar Ernesto Rodríguez Chávez of the think tank Colegio de la Frontera Norte:

His estimates put the current annual flow of undocumented crossings from Central America to the United States through Mexico at between 350,000 and 400,000; the calculations consider crossings, rather than people, as some individuals may cross more than once. Much of the traffic takes place out of sight, at night, in smaller flows, Rodríguez said, to escape the attention of Mexican migration authorities.

The longer they keep invading in such massive numbers, the more certain Democrats are to win elections. The more elections are won by Democrats, the less likely it is that the flow will be stanched.

Leftists offer an unsurprising solution — send money:

[President Elect Andrés Manuel] López Obrador … is asking the collaboration of the United States and Canada to invest in southern Mexico and Central America as a means to stem migration.

We are told this will stop the invasion by addressing the “root causes.”

However, pouring any amount of taxpayer money down the rathole that is the Third World will not prevent it from expanding at our expense. So long as there is nothing to stop them, people will go to where the money comes from.

The only solution is to defend the border as we would from a conventional military invasion.
