Shrinking Minority Trusts Liberal Media Establishment
There is good news for the declining liberal media establishment. According to an IBD/TIPP poll, a surprising 29% of the country still believes that the press is more interested in reporting facts than in deceiving the public to advance an agenda:
The poll found that more than two-thirds of the public (69%) think the news media “is more concerned with advancing its points of view rather than reporting all the facts.” Only 29% of the public disagrees with that statement. …
That includes 72% of independents, 95% of Republicans, and — surprisingly enough — 43% of Democrats.
It surprises me more that 5% of Republicans don’t get it that they are being lied to, discredited, marginalized, and demonized every time they turn on the TV. A full 7% of Republicans disagree that the media “seeks to delegitimize the views held by President Trump and his supporters.”
No wonder the Washington Post was willing to blow $5.25 million on a 30-second Super Bowl ad in an attempt to convince us the “mainstream” media is unbiased and trustworthy, even as its propagandists are getting laid off in droves. They are in damage control mode. But telling more lies won’t repair the damage; that can only be done if they tell the truth — which would defeat the purpose of activist journalism.
