Sanity From the Left: Mette Frederiksen

It looks like Mette Frederiksen of the liberal Social Democrats is going to be Denmark’s next prime minister. This is not entirely bad news — thanks to her stance on immigration:

“For me, it is becoming increasingly clear that the price of unregulated globalisation, mass immigration and the free movement of labour is paid for by the lower classes,” she said in a recent biography.

Normally, left of center politicians ignore that fact. But that will have to change if they are going to compete with right-wing populists.

Frederikson embraces anti-colonization legislation passed by the conservative coalition currently in power, and wants to go farther.

Under her leadership, the SD have called for a cap on “non-western immigrants”, for asylum seekers to be expelled to a reception centre in North Africa, and for all immigrants to be forced to work 37 hours a week in exchange for benefits.

Her party backs other policies guaranteed to cause a bleeding heart moonbat to burst into tears.

These include a law allowing jewellery to be stripped from refugees, a burqa and niqab ban, mandatory handshakes irrespective of religious sentiment at citizenship ceremonies, and a plan to house criminal asylum seekers on an island used for researching contagious animal diseases. In February, she backed what the DPP has branded a “paradigm shift” – a push to make repatriation, rather than integration, the goal of asylum policy.

This could be insincere political maneuvering to steal conservatives’ strongest issue. But it would be nice to think that Europe’s survival instinct is kicking in.

Europe can survive misguided liberal economic policies. It cannot survive mass immigration from the Third World. Either that is stopped soon or Europe will die.
