Two Top Issues for Republican Voters

They may not get it, even if their “representatives” win elections, but Republican voters know what they want — an end to the runaway immigration, both illegal and legal, that is transforming this into a different country. According to the latest Harvard/Harris poll, building the wall and reducing overall immigration are the #1 and #2 issues for GOP voters.

Ranking as the top priority for Republicans, conservatives, and Trump supporters, 22 to 25 percent of these voters said building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border should be the president’s number one goal today.

Reducing all immigration — both illegal and legal — to the U.S. is ranked as the second top priority for Republicans, conservatives, and Trump voters. Between 19 and 20 percent of these voters said reducing the inflow of immigrants should be Trump’s second top priority.

Unfortunately, this contrasts sharply with the last State of the Union speech, during which Trump horrified supporters by calling for immigration in “largest numbers ever,” despite the glaringly obvious need to assimilate current immigrants before taking in more.

The new poll is no outlier:

In a Reuters/Ipsos Poll last month, GOP voters called immigration the “most important problem” facing the nation and a Harvard Institute of Politics poll found that young GOP voters were the most skeptical of immigration.

However,

Republican voters’ support for reducing legal immigration levels — at which about 1.2 million legal immigrants are admitted to the U.S. every year — is a direct rejection of the big business interests’ and GOP donor apparatus’s lobbying for more legal immigration.

This is why nothing significant was done about the building the wall or ditching suicidal immigration policies even when Republicans held both houses of Congress as well as the White House. Mass immigration suppresses wages, which is good for the people who pay the wages — in the short term, until socialists start getting elected.
