Harvard Medical School Erases White Male Scientists

Harvard has found a solution to the historical lack of diversity when it comes to scientific accomplishment — simply erase white male scientists. Jeffrey S. Flier, professor of medicine and former dean of Harvard Medical School, struggles to get with the program:

The walls were entirely bare. Thirty-one oil portraits of medical and scientific leaders that had made the room distinctive were gone. …

I’d been to the Bornstein auditorium of Brigham and Women’s Hospital many times during 40 years on the Harvard Medical School faculty and nine years as its dean. But when I arrived in the early morning several weeks ago to lecture to the hospital’s storied department of medicine, I was startled upon entering the familiar venue.

A year earlier, The Boston Globe reported that the portraits would be removed as part of a diversity initiative, but I hadn’t seen the result. What I experienced was not diversity, but sterility.

“Institutions commission portraits to acknowledge past contributions and to narrate institutional history,” Dr Flier observes.

The past was bad because it did not comply with current liberal dogma. History is bad because it does not support the progressive narrative. Down the memory hole they go.

Good thing we can erase white male scientists without erasing their discoveries, which make modern life possible. Unfortunately, this does not hold true going forward. But maybe if we pour enough public money down Affirmative Action scholarships, a Person of Politically Preferred Pigmentation will come up with a big medical breakthrough.
