Why Electric Cars Are Morally Despicable

Normally the class warfare rhetoric barked by Marxist demagogues like Bernie Sanders leaves me cold. What do I care if someone else has more than enough so long as I have a chance to earn what I need? But one thing about the rich really is enraging: their virtue-signaling electric cars. That’s because even if I wanted one, I couldn’t afford it — yet I still have to help pay for theirs.

EV stands for electric vehicle. It also stands for elitist vehicle:

The least expensive EVs costs a lot of green — $30,000 to start for the Nissan Leaf, several thousand more for the next-up Tesla 3 ($35,000) and Chevy Bolt ($36,620), and way up from there.

The typical new EV sells for south of $50,000. Plus another couple thousand for a “fast” charger, so you can wait 30-45 minutes to get going again rather than all day.

These vehicles are driven almost exclusively by wealthy liberals — the same people who carp sanctimoniously about income inequality. Meanwhile, their extravagant moonbatmobiles are heavily subsidized through taxation, enriching crony capitalist rent-seekers like Elon Musk on a coercive basis. The same goes for their “fast” charging hubs, which are also subsidized. But that’s not the worst of it.

Elitist Vehicles — the electric ones — are morally despicable.

Not only because their perverse elitism is paid for by money mulcted from others but also because the end goal is a world in which only the Es have Vs — because Affordable Vehicles (AFs) will have been done away with.

This will be done by progressively strangling our ability to drive AFs through increasingly onerous taxes and regulations, which are justified by the liberal elite article of faith that normal cars make it be too hot out.

If progressives have their way, the manufacture and sale of non-EVs will eventually be banned altogether. The Green New Deal makes explicit that in utopia, only our rulers get to have mobility.
