Impeachment as Punishment

Nothing reflects the decay of American civilization more heartbreakingly than a question like the one below from a major party presidential candidate who is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. The racially correct if constitutionally clueless Kamala Harris wants Brett Kavanaugh impeached on the grounds of obscene and starkly scurrilous allegations of improper sexual conduct back in college that the New York Times tried to slime him with but then effectively admitted were groundless. Argues Harris,

“Someone should investigate this because the fact that something has not been proven, it doesn’t mean it didn’t occur, right?”

The investigation would be another sham, like the Mueller investigation. There is no evidence, and the obviously imaginary crime would not warrant removal from office even if it had occurred.

Technically, impeachment is not punishment, but only a leveling of charges.

However, in the case of Kavanaugh, impeachment is the punishment. Not even Kamala Harris thinks that a Supreme Court Justice is going to be removed from office over a debunked claim by a sleazy, disreputable publication that he exposed himself decades ago. Even the New York Times went back and admitted that the supposed victim in their clearly fictional story has no recollection of the offense ever having occurred.

The impeachment would serve to subject Kavanaugh to another Two Minutes Hate spectacle like the travesty of a confirmation process they put him through. In the funhouse world of Democrats, the trial serves as punishment for those the prosecutors know cannot be convicted because there is was no crime.

When this was still recognizable as America, everyone understood that in a civilized country, people are innocent until proven guilty. Now you can serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee without respecting this fundamental concept. “Justice” is nothing more than a means for inflicting damage on those you want to destroy.
