12-Year-Old Girl Arrested for Finger Gun

To moonbats, nothing could be more terrifying than a gun in private hands. It is the concretization of liberty, a working symbol of the empowered individual, and therefore absolute anathema to progressives’ authoritarian collectivist goals. Maybe the hysterical terror they attempt to instill regarding guns is not merely a tactic for attacking the Second Amendment; maybe they really are that scared. In any case, their hoplophobia has escalated to the level of self-parody. In Overland Park, a 12-year-old girl was dragged out of school in handcuffs and charged with a felony for pointing a finger gun.

[A]ccording to Johnson County District Court documents, on Sept. 18, the girl “unlawfully and feloniously communicated a threat to commit violence, with the intent to place another, in fear, or with the intent to cause the evacuation, lock down or disruption in regular, ongoing activities …” or created just the risk of causing such fear.

At this point, a 7-year-old eating his Pop-Tart into a shape that vaguely resembles a gun creates the risk of causing such a fear.

The finger gun has always been a common gesture, especially among children. But then, the okay sign has always been a common gesture too; that doesn’t mean it won’t send liberal authorities into tyrannical paroxysms of terror.

We have reached this level of lunacy before:

In 2015, a Colorado first-grader was suspended from school after forming his fingers into the shape of a gun, pointing toward a classmate and saying, “You’re dead.” …

A year earlier, in Columbus, Ohio, a 10-year-old boy was suspended for three days for pretending his finger was a gun.

Back in Overland Park, the absurd felony charge could prevent the girl from getting into college or the military. Her grandfather, who confirms that she has no access to real guns and no intention of harming anyone, was told that she might face up to a year in juvenile detention, not a good start for her young life.

But the important thing for authorities is to instill a “zero tolerance” policy toward anything having to do with guns.
