Aspiring Scholar Jeremy Banks: We Shoot at Cops

Maybe some good will come of the new California law allowing college athletes to get paid, if it helps make clear that the higher profiles athletes are athletes, not students. They have nothing meaningful to do with colleges, except that colleges serve as farm teams for the NFL and NBA. Aspiring young scholar Jeremy Banks makes it even more clear:

[University of] Tennessee linebacker Jeremy Banks didn’t hold back after getting arrested last month on an outstanding warrant, telling a woman on a ride-along that residents in his hometown of Memphis “shoot at cops,” video shows.

In the back of a patrol car, Banks amped up the charm:

“Y’all police are some p—–s, bro,” Banks said. “Real s–t, like, I don’t f–k with y’all. I don’t give a f–k. That’s why all my f–king life I hated cops.”

Banks then called the officer a “bitch and a half,” video shows, before turning his attention to a woman in the passenger seat.

“Ma’am, I don’t think you want to be an intern, because where I’m from, we shoot at cops,” Banks said. “I’m from Memphis, Tennessee.”

The NFL is in the business of paying criminal lowlifes $millions upon $millions per year to entertain people who like to watch them chase a ball around. But why should this be connected to higher education?
