China has enough coal-fired power plants in the pipeline to match the entire capacity of the European Union, driving the expansion in global coal power…

The nation has almost 148 gigawatts of coal-fired capacity under active construction or likely to be resumed after being suspended…

This is according to a report by the environmentalist nonprofit Global Energy Monitor.

In contrast to many other countries, including the U.K.’s pledge to shut all coal plants by 2025, Beijing remains committed to coal as its biggest source of power… Its additions in the 18 months to June dwarf declines elsewhere in the world, according to the report.

The nation is on track to cap installed coal power capacity at 1,100 gigawatts by 2020. However, its coal and power industry groups are proposing further expansion to capacity of 1,200 to 1,400 gigawatts by 2035, according to the report. Should that be adopted, China alone would have more than triple the limit on worldwide coal power determined by the Paris climate agreement to keep global warming well below 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit), GEM said.

There really are people who think bureaucrats can fine-tune global temperature by suppressing the generation of energy, as if they were turning the dial on a planetary thermostat.

GEM says the ChiComs must lower their current coal power capacity by >40% so that the temperature does not go up by 2°C. However, it appears they are smart enough to play along with green idiocy that will cripple economic competitors in the West, while continuing to generate their own energy by efficient means. So much for the Chinese “Coal Peak” that moonbats duped themselves into believing in.

Leftists ought to dispatch Greta Thunberg to try her “How dare you!” routine on Xi Jinping et al. But of course, China’s rulers would only laugh at her.

Taking progressive global warming rhetoric at face value, the only way to save the planet would be to invade China and India and force them at gunpoint to stop burning fossil fuels. Nothing else will stop carbon levels from rising. Yet, although Democrats compare the global warming hoax to WWII, none has suggested starting WWIII over it.

The Bloomberg piece concludes with this:

Michael R. Bloomberg, the founder and majority stakeholder of Bloomberg LP, the parent company of Bloomberg News, has committed $500 million to launch Beyond Carbon, a campaign aimed at closing the remaining coal-powered plants in the U.S. by 2030 and slowing the construction of new gas plants.

If you assume that Bloomberg could not have amassed such a fortune if he were a complete idiot, it doesn’t leave much choice but to regard him as hostile to the USA and its people.
