Is there really a summer place called "Temma Harbour"?
Mary Hopkin was one of the first recording stars who scored big hits on the Beatles’ Apple label!
I remember “Temma Harbour“. It was a song about a summer paradise that sounded awfully good on that Apple Records 45 rpm single that I used to play.
This week, I was driving around Dallas and I heard that song again.
It reminded me of a question that I never got an answer to: Is Temma Harbour a real place in the planet?
Is there such a beautiful spot? What place was Mary Hopkin singing about?
I don’t know the answer but spending a weekend in Temma Harbour sounds great when our afternoon temperatures go over 100!

Temma Harbour occupies the base of a 250 m wide low rocky bay that faces west-southwest between 700 m long Richardson Point and 300 m long Gaffney Point, which extends another 300 m seaward as reefs. The beach (T 873) is located at the northern end of the beach with rock platforms to either side. It is sheltered by its embayed location, three reefs just off the beach and the boundary points and reefs which result in usually low waves at the shore and reflective conditions. Slipways are located to either side of the beach with the larger boats slipped because of the reefs in the bay. The few houses back the west and north side of the harbour with about 10 foredune ridges extending 200 m inland to the edge of Poppys Lagoon.
