Fauci Discovers the Downside to Lockdowns

Now he tells us. Here’s the latest from Technocrat in Chief Anthony Fauci on the lockdowns he has encouraged:

“We can’t stay locked down for such a considerable period of time that you might do irreparable damage and have unintended consequences, including consequences for health.”

It is wonderful that Fauci has finally noticed — as have many doctors before him — that the lockdowns have not only thrown 36 million Americans out of work, they have also had a negative effect on public health.

Irreparable damage has already been done. Millions of lives have been wrecked, largely due to local Democrat despots exploiting Fauci’s pronouncements to justify extreme measures. A large percentage of the jobs lost will never come back.

Just this month, Fauci claimed there would be “needless suffering and death” if the lockdowns were lifted too soon, although by then it was already obvious that they never should have been imposed in the first place.

Big Government’s sacred oracle of COVID-19 hysteria has reversed himself before. His assessments of the severity of Wuhan coronavirus have been all over the place. There was no need to change our behavior, then social distancing was crucial. We shouldn’t wear masks, then we had to wear masks.

One America was highlighting Fauci’s reversals over a month ago:

The next time an expert emerges from the federal bureaucracy to tell us freedom has to be set aside for a while because of models and projections, we will know to coat him in tar, apply feathers, transport him upon a rail to the nearest body of water, and dump him therein.
