Defending the Alamo Again

Black Lives Matter exploits race as a wedge to impose the entire radical left agenda. As Jack Fowler puts it in a recommended piece on the movement’s strategy, “BLM has as much if not more to do with Petrograd as it does with Selma.” Anyone who supports BLM is supporting the full agenda, wittingly or otherwise. At the core of it is Cultural Marxism, the purpose of which is to discredit and then eradicate the heritage that is the basis of our culture. That is why the leftist mob keeps going after monuments (e.g., here, here, and here).

Among the greatest monuments to America’s proud history is the Alamo. Consequently, progressives hate it. The current wave of BLM madness, whipped to a fever pitch by the liberal establishment, could be their opportunity to destroy it once and for all.

A couple of weeks ago, they went after the Alamo Cenotaph that stands adjacent to it, commemorating those who died at the Alamo:

Armed Texans placed themselves at the Alamo Cenotaph Saturday afternoon in advance of George Floyd protests in San Antonio, Texas.

Protesters defaced the monument early Friday with downward-facing arrows placed next to the statements “white supremacy,” “profit over People” and “the ALAMO,” according to an article by the San Antonio Express-News.

As relentless as rust, leftists are not stopped that easily. Calls to attack the Alamo have been bubbling up on social media. But for once a Republican officeholder, the Commissioner of the Texas General Land Office, has shown willingness to defend American civilization from the moonbat mob.

While others on the right wring their hands and bleat about police reform in an attempt to placate violent revolutionaries, it turns out to be George P. Bush, son of Jeb, who has the guts to stand up to the Left:

“The Alamo is the Shrine of Texas Liberty. And it will be defended,” Bush said in a statement on Saturday.

Law enforcement has been deployed. For now, the police are still allowed to do their job, at least in some parts of the country.

“My message to the protesters is simple: Don’t mess with The Alamo,” Bush added.

No apologies. No compromise. No groveling before the allegedly oppressed. Civilization will be defended. What a welcome change of tone.

If the Alamo was worth defending against impossible odds once, it is again. The same goes for the nation that the Alamo symbolizes.
