FreedomWorks Statement in Response to The New York Times Intentionally Conflating Absentee Voting with Widespread Voting By Mail

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to The New York Times’ misleading conflation of absentee voting, which takes place each election cycle, with widespread voting by mail, which many leading Democrats are calling for, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, commented:

“The New York Times seeks to conflate absentee voting with the concept of widespread voting by mail. The former takes place every cycle and has a tried and tested process to reduce the risk of fraud or lost ballots. On the other hand, in the push for widespread voting by mail, the sheer volume of mail is inherently dangerous for election integrity. This should be an obvious conclusion, but outlets such as The New York Times continue to downplay the dangers of widespread voting by mail, while still implying that it must be implemented.

“This is yet another example of left-wing media outlets’ refusal to objectively state the facts surrounding widespread voting by mail. This is part of the narrative designed to weaken the American voter’s faith in the results of the November Election.”
