“Sexual Preference” Struck From Newspeak Dictionary

An urgent update to the Newspeak Dictionary has emerged from the sideshow Democrats have made of Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation.

The term “sexual preference” was once the height of political correctness, implying that it is not normal and right to be attracted to the opposite sex, but merely a preference, like choosing between flavors of ice cream. However, progressives have realized that having a preference entails free will, which they fundamentally oppose.

Therefore, the word “preference” must not be used in the context of sexuality. Mazie Hirono has spoken. Since the laws of political correctness are applied retroactively, Amy Coney Barrett has been duly chastised for a vocabulary infraction.

“Let me make clear, ‘sexual preference’ is an offensive and outdated term,” Hirono said. “It is used by the anti-LGBTQ activists to suggest that sexual orientation is a choice. It is not. Sexual orientation is a key part of a person’s identity… So if it is your view that sexual orientation is merely a ‘preference,’ as you noted, then the LGBTQ community should be rightly concerned whether you will uphold their constitutional right to marry.”

This is why Democrats plan to pack the Supreme Court. If you can say with a straight face that there is a constitutional right for members of the same sex to “marry” each other, stuffing the court with leftist apparatchiks could just as easily allow Hirono et al to honk about the constitutional right to free college indoctrination and to never have to hear opinions that offend liberal sensibilities.

Barrett offered an apology for using the term, explaining that she didn’t mean to use the term in the way Hirono had described it, but that didn’t stop Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., from bringing it up.

“When you did use the term ‘sexual preference’ earlier today, rather than ‘sexual orientation,’ is there a difference, and what is it?” Booker asked.

Those who do not want to be canceled are now required to pretend that sexual deviancy is an immutable characteristic. After the court has been packed by Democrats, this principle will be applied to pedophiles.

Ever eager to enforce far left vocabulary decrees, Merriam-Webster leapt into action, changing the definition of “preference” to conform to up-to-the-moment moonbat doctrine.

Prior to the supposed outrage, Webster’s Dictionary listed the fifth definition under “preference” to link to the term “sexual preference,” the universally used phrase to refer to those with whom a person chooses to have sex.

Now, the definition has been updated to claim the word is “offensive.” In fact, Webster’s Dictionary claims the phrase is “widely” believed to be considered offensive, despite the fact that it was not listed as offensive until after Barrett used it.

“The term preference as used to refer to sexual orientation is widely considered offensive in its implied suggestion that a person can choose who they are sexually or romantically attracted to,” Webster’s Dictionary claims.

Merriam-Webster deserves a pat on the head from Big Brother, just as it did when it changed the definition of racism on demand from a black woman so as to bring it in line with the toxic concept of “systemic racism” that has been used to justify riots and to attack the foundations of American society.
