Republican Freeholder candidates are pulling ahead in Monmouth County

Republicans Lillian Burry and Ross Licitra are leading the ballot count in the Monmouth County Freeholder race following an upload of about 11,000 ballots on Thursday morning.

Freeholder Burry is currently the top vote getting in the four way race for two seats on the County governing Board with 112,175 votes. Licitra has 111,286.

Democrat Michael Penna has 109,744 and his running mate Moria Nelson has 108,418.

Democrats tended to cast their ballots shortly after receiving them on or about October 5 with Republicans and unaffilated voters holding off voting until closer to Election Day. The Board of Elections is reporting ballots in the order in which they were logged in.

MMM called the Monmouth County Clerks race for incumbent Republican Christine Giordano Hanlon following the Board of Elections’ for report on November 3. Hanlon was leading the first count of ballots which was dominated by Democrat voters by 54%-45% . Her lead has expanded to 55.5% – 44.5%.
