With an admission to have not listen to the whole hour + of the lecture, due to the overflow of news at this moment, (we trust the lecture to be full of good strategic advices as it is the usual), we nevertheless wish to comment about the sound advice of the title of the said lecture which is “Retreat Not Surrender! “.
Retreat, not surrender was a sound advice which was given in a subliminal manner by Our Lord Jesus Christ on the night of the Passion to St. Peter. “Amen, I tell you, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.” St. Peter was certainly foolish to go behind enemy lines. He could have been killed. The Lord would have then lost not only a brave lieutenant, but also He would have lost the foundation of His Church. The humiliation of appearing a coward to the world was well worth the reward of continuing God’s mission on earth by securing the primitive Church and then by expanding the early Church.
To “Retreat” is not a reprehensible act of disowning the fighting mission of good against evil. On the contrary, if retreating avoids to surrender, it will lead to future counter-attack, growth and victory as opposed to extinction, since surrender IS extinction.
