Large brush fire closes portion of GSP in Ocean County
A Sunday afternoon brush fire in Lakewood has forced the closure of several miles of the Garden State Parkway near mile marker 89, authorities announced.
Lakewood police reported a “large” brush fire neat Airport Road and Cedarbridge Avenue, according to a tweet from the department’s account about 2:30 p.m. The department asked that the area be avoided.
The parkway is closed in both directions from Exit 82 to Exit 91 due the multi-alarm fire, according to the State Police, which said no injuries or damage have been reported on the parkway.
