Christopher Columbus brought Christianity to the new world. That is the greatest contribution to mankind. A few short years later with divine intervention, through Our Lady of Guadalupe and the modest contributions of the Franciscan Friars as well as a handful of Jesuits missionaries, the Aztec Empire, which, with the Inca Empire were the “Egypt” of continent, as well as the cruel savages tribes scattered, were converted to the Prince of Peace, Our Lord Jesus Christ. That is what Christopher Columbus was, a spearhead to a holy conquest.
About the enslaving Chinese Empire, which, thank God remained within its own borders at that time, one anecdote is worth mentioning about Christopher Columbus: Christopher Columbus, who was an audacious mariner from Genoa was not a saint as the world recognize them. He brought back some captive “Indians” to Queen Isabella of Spain who had commissioned the adventure. The poor Indian savages were is chains while being presented at the Spanish royal court. Upon seing that, from her throne, the saintly queen ordered that the chains were to be immediately removed, stating that “they were her subjects, and not to be treated like animals”. This why slavery has never existed into the former Spanish Empire, in nations such as Mexico, Argentina, Chili, et al, and the Philippines, because those conquered lands were never considered to be “colonies”. The lesser Catholic conquering nations such as Portugal, Holland, France, or the Protestant nations had sadly slavery in their “colonies”. The undoing of slavery is a combat that only a few saints were about to diminish, such as St. Peter Claver, confessor, a Jesuit Priest who spent 40 years laboring for the salvation of the African Negroes and the abolition of the Negro trade in Brasil, which as that time had taken tremendous proportions. The term “colony” is un-Catholic because it represents an exploitation of both mineral and human resources leading to an impoverishment as well as demoralizing of the conquered lands. Christopher Columbus brought many goods in his fortunate discovery. The proposal of bringing the enslaving “Chinese ideal” is absolutely devilish and condemnable besides being irresponsible.for the wellfare of the whole world.
