Mass Formation...

 arguing with the hypnotized is a waste of time.

The concept of “mass formation” has been popping up in many places. It was a new term to me, and so far I can’t really tell if it’s been around awhile or recently invented.

It seems to trace back to Professor Mattias Desmet, a Belgian professor of clinical psychology at Ghent University who also holds a masters degree in statistics.

What is it?

It is, in my opinion, a way of totalitarian control through fear and manipulation of the masses. Due to our rapid communication it has spread world-wide.

Four conditions are necessary for mass formation:

1. The masses must feel alone and isolated
2. Their lives must feel pointless and meaningless
3. The masses must experience constant free-floating anxiety
4. They must experience free-floating frustration and aggression

“Four things need to exist or need to be in place if you want a large scale mass phenomenon to emerge. The first thing is that there needs to be a lot of socially isolated people, people who experience a lack of social bonds. The second one is that there needs to be a lot of people who experience a lack of sense-making in life. And the third and the fourth conditions are that there needs to be a lot of free-floating anxiety and a lot of free-floating psychological discontent. So: meaning, anxiety, and discontent that is not connected to a specific representation. So it needs to be in the mind without the people being able to connect it to something. If you have these four things—lack of social bonds, lack of sense-making, free-floating anxiety, and free-floating psychological discontent—then society is highly at risk for the emergence of mass phenomenon.”

Taken from a Christian perspective, it sounds to me like a lot of people who have no faith in God are the ones falling victim to this mass psychosis.

Being a statistician, he throws out some percentages which may or may not be correct.  But we can run with them for now.  If his statistics apply to the entire world, they seem plausible. But taken region by region, they might be off.  

• 25% of people cannot be hypnotized (true)
• 10% are highly hypnotizable (true)
• 30% of people are now deeply hypnotized (seems about right)
• 40% will ultimately follow the herd (questionable)
• 30% will stand against the prevailing propaganda (history backs this up)
