It should be obvious to anyone with a modicum of firearms knowledge, that these folks who want to ban certain types of firearms, actually know very little about the subject. Most legislators don’t know the difference between a clip and a magazine. or the difference between a semi-automatic and a machine gun. They continue to make the claim that an AR-15 is an extremely powerful round, and does far more damage than a hunting rifle. In truth, most of the mass shootings have been done with full metal jacket ammunition, while hunting rounds are always a rapid-expanding type of bullet, soft point, hollow point, etc. The most commonly used hunting round has traditionally been the .30-30 Winchester. The ft. lbs. of energy for the .223 is 1,495, while the .30-30 Winchester is 1,888 average. It varies with the weight of the bullet. Most other hunting rounds are considerably higher, and do much more damage to tissue. In fact, were a shooter to use a .30-06 bolt action rifle and full metal jacket ammo, it would be possible to hit three or four people with one shot. Likewise, if a shooter used Grandpa’s waterfowl shotgun with goose loads of #2 shot. Firing into a crowd, multiple people would be hit with a single shot. So, as usual, these lawmakers are simply full of shit. They know not of which they speak.
