GENERAL OUTLOOK

Expect an increase in moisture going into the weekend along with much cooler temperatures as an upper low interacts with a coastal cyclone that will move inland over the Carolinas. The upper low will linger over our region into early next week keeping our weather wet along with breezy conditions. The low is forecast to gradually move off the Carolina coast toward mid week with temperatures warming to near normal for this time of year.

Almanac

PM2.5 AQI is 51 (MODERATE/CODE YELLOW) for most of the county, and the ridges and other higher elevations PM2.5 AQI is 51 (MODERATE/CODE YELLOW)

Fire and Smoke Map
Today’s Air Quality Conditions

Fine particulate readings in the Code Yellow range are being observed over the western half of the state with Code Green readings over the eastern half. Ozone readings in the Code Yellow range are being observed over Fayetteville, in/around Charlotte, and over the Mountains.

General Forecast Discussion

Partly sunny and cool weather is expected to continue tomorrow with increasing clouds developing late owing to an approaching surface low from the Florida coast. Ozone readings should remain generally muted and in the Code Green range statewide tomorrow. Fine particulates may remain stubbornly elevated in the Code Yellow range over the western half of the state with Code Green conditions to the east.

Outlook

Widespread clouds and rain — heavy at times — are expected to build from the coast westward towards the Mountains Saturday into Sunday. This unsettled, windy and cold weather will keep ozone and fine particulates in the low/mid-Code Green range statewide this weekend. Local Air Monitor

Pollen

Pollen levels are expected to be in the medium range (6.8 out of 12) today with Grasses, Mulberry, and Poplar being the main culprits. Tomorrow is expected to be in the low-medium range (4.6 out of 12).
