You don’t need a passport to go in and out of Mexico if you have a Texas driver’s license . I heard
I never had to show ID going back and forth to Canada from MI until after 9-11-2001, only a verbal declaration of citizenship.
Now if I want to go to Canada, I can go there no problem. But getting BACK into the US, I need my passport. They do offer enhanced MI driver licences, but only to people crossing every day for work. The last time I went to Canada, I had my car searched randomly entering back into the US. That was 20 years ago.
I suspect TX has the same thing going for Mexico.
