It’s all a charade. The capitol police were clearly given orders from the top to allow people to enter the building, even escort them in the right direction if needed. The police didn’t need help preventing the storming of the capitol building, they needed help herding the sheep into the building.
It looks like everyone in DC government was in on the action Jan 6. This includes Trump, who gave a speech urging people to go over. He even said that he was coming too. That was a lie by Trump. He went in the opposite direction that day.
