Here is the news and weather briefing for Macon County.


GENERAL OUTLOOK

A fast moving system will bring a quick round of accumulating snow across the higher elevations of the mountains near the Tennessee border today into early this evening. Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will also be possible east of the mountains. A warming trend begins Monday with highs well above normal through Wednesday. A sharp cold front moves through the area Wednesday into Wednesday night with a brief return of dry weather before unsettled conditions return late week into next weekend.

General Forecast Through Monday Night

Franklin Area

Today

A slight chance of rain and snow showers before midmorning, then a chance of rain showers. Partly sunny, with highs near 50. Light and variable winds ealy in the morning increasing to come out of the northwest 10 to 15 mph by midmorning. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Tonight

Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with lows around 20. Winds out of the northwest 5 to 15 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

Sunday

Sunny, with highs near 60. Calm winds in the morning increasing to come out of the southwest 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Sunday Night

Partly cloudy, with lows in the mid-to-upper 30s. Winds out of the south 3 to 7 mph.

Monday

Mostly sunny, with highs in the upper 60s. Light winds out of the west in the morning increasing to come out of the the southwest 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

A 20 percent chance of showers after 4am. Partly cloudy, with lows in the mid 40s.

Today

A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 2pm. Partly sunny, with highs in the low-to-mid 40s. Winds out of the northwest 5 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon.

Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Partly cloudy, with lows in the low-to-mid 20s. Winds out of the northwest 15 to 25 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.

Sunday

Partly sunny through mid morning, then becoming sunny, with highs in the low-to-mid 50s. Winds out of the west 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday Night

Partly cloudy, with lows in the mid 30s. Winds out of the southwest 5 to 15 mph shifting to come out of the northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Monday

Mostly sunny, with highs near 60. Winds out of the northwest 10 to 20 mph in the morning shifting to come out of the southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

A chance of rain and snow showers before 2pm, then a slight chance of rain showers between 2pm and 4pm. Partly sunny, with highs near 50. Light and variable winds early in the morning increasing to come out of the northwest 10 to 15 mph by midmorning. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Partly cloudy, with lows in the lower 20s. Winds out of the northwest 5 to 15 mph decreasing and shifting to come out of the northeast after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.
