GENERAL OUTLOOK

Seasonable weather is expected today with a warming trend beginning Monday. High temperatures will be well above normal through Wednesday. A sharp cold front moves through the area Wednesday evening with a brief return of dry weather before unsettled conditions return late week into next weekend.

General Forecast Through Tuesday Night

Franklin Area

Today

Sunny, with highs in the lower 60s. Calm winds in the morning increasing to come out of the southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight

Partly cloudy, with lows in the mid-to-upper 30s. Winds out of the south around 5 mph decreasing to calm winds before midnight.

Monday

Sunny, with highs near 70. Light and variable winds early in the morning increasing to come out of the southwest 5 to 10 mph by midmorning.

Monday Night

A 20 percent chance of showers after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with lows in the mid-to-upper 40s. Winds out of the south 5 to 10 mph.

Tuesday

A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with highs in the low-to-mid 60s. Winds out of the south 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Tuesday Night

A slight chance of showers before 1am, then a slight chance of showers after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with lows in the mid 50s. Chance of rain is 20%.

Nantahala Area

Hazardous weather is not expected today or tonight.

Monday afternoon, relative humidity levels will drop to near 20% with warmer temperatures and an increase in wind speed, so it is not advisable to be burning outdoors. If you do burn outdoors, make sure you have a good water supply and tools to keep it in check.
