GENERAL OUTLOOK

High pressure remains over the area with dry conditions and well above normal temperatures expected through Tuesday. Showers and a few thunderstorms will be ahead of a cold front as it crosses the region late Tuesday night and Wednesday. Breezy conditions and northwest flow snow showers will be possible as much cooler air returns for the latter half of the week.

Mostly cloudy, with highs in the upper 70s. Calm winds in the morning increasing to come out of the west around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight

Mostly cloudy, with lows in the upper 50s. Winds out of the southwest around 5 mph becoming light and variable before midnight.

Tuesday

A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 5pm. Mostly cloudy, with highs in the upper 70s. Winds out of the southwest 5 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of rain is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Strong to severe thunderstorms may develop across the Tennessee Valley Tuesday afternoon and track east into the North Carolina mountains Tuesday evening into Tuesday night. Overall, the storms are expected to weaken, so there remains a lot of uncertainty on severe potential as showers and storms cross the mountains Tuesday night.
